Spatial Reasoning Test "Cube Folding"

Image depicting one of the tasks of the Cube Folding test

Description of the Spatial Reasoning "Cube Folding" Test This test is less known in the Russian-speaking internet, as it is considered specialized and is used in Western countries for testing pilots and air traffic controllers. The purpose of the test is to determine the subject's ability to manipulate spatial representations mentally. In simpler terms, it's a spatial reasoning test that involves, using a schematic cube net as a guide, mentally reconstructing the cube and determining which of the provided cube projections (showing three sides at once) is possible for that given net. The mental cube folding test can also be a useful exercise for developing this mental ability in both children and adults, school students, technical professionals, and humanities specialists.

Instructions for the Spatial Reasoning "Cube Folding" Test Choose the test option - a 5-task practice version or the full 10-task test. Select the icons that will appear on the cube faces and proceed to the test page. There, you will see the selected number of tasks, each showing a flat net of a cube. Below each task, there are 6 answer options - isometric cube projections with three visible sides. Among these six options, only one shows a possible arrangement of icons on a cube folded from the given net in that specific task. Your goal is to identify and select the correct option for all tasks as quickly as possible. The essence of the task is to visualize in your mind how the icons will be positioned on a cube assembled from the net shown in the task, i.e., to know which icons are located on all 6 sides of the cube. When ready, click the "Check Solution" button. You will be redirected to the results page, which will show the main statistics of your test performance.
